Labor Group WILL RATE “No” Vote on H.R. 1644, “RESPECT Act”
AWF Urges Vote against H.R. 1644

The Alliance for Worker Freedom urges members to oppose H.R. 1644, the so-called “RESPECT Act,” as it is in direct opposition to the best interest of employees and employers, and creates instability on job-sites by redefining the definition of “supervisor.”

„« Makes major Change In Statutory Definition of “Supervisor” That Has Existed, Untouched, In The National Labor Relations Action Since 1947.

„« Will Expose Workers To Union Organizing, Union Discipline And Fines, Union Work Rules and Union Picketing and Strikes.

„« Will Eliminate the Two Most Common and Most Important Supervisory Duties From the Current Definition of “Supervisor”

„« The Duties “to Assign” and “Responsibility to Direct” Employees No Longer Would Be Factors In Determining Whether an Employee is a Supervisor.

„« Includes a New Requirement That a Supervisor Spend “A Majority” of Their Time on Hiring, Firing and Disciplining Employees.

„« Few Supervisors Would Meet the New “Majority Work Time” Requirement and Will Jeopardize Leadership and Respect on the Job Site

H.R. 1644 undermines the title and disincentives hard work and promotions by interfering with a 1947 Labor Act. By de-classifying supervisors, this bill is nothing more than an attempt by Big Labor to increase the amount of dues-paying workers.
