AWF URGES SUPPORT OF GINGREY AMENDMENT #574 TO PROHIBT TAXPAYER-FUNDED UNIONIZATION

Washington, D.C. – The Alliance for Worker Freedom (AWF) urges all Representatives to vote YES on Rep. Phil Gingrey’s amendment to the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2010.

Rep. Gingrey’s amendment would forbid federal employees in the Department of Defense from using official time for union activities.

• The OPM 2008 report found that the federal government spent $120,730,471 on union activities, an increase from $113,038,094 the previous year, 2007

•The Citizens Against Government Waste estimated that Gingery’s bill would save an estimated $250 million in taxpayer funds

•While American families look to curtail wasteful spending, legislators should follow suit and end blind union support.
