Connecticut: 11 Unions Endorse Hillary Clinton

BERLIN, Conn. — In a strip mall off Route 71, a few dozen union members gathered in a local lodge on Saturday as 11 labor unions representing more than 80,000 workers endorsed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. This afternoon, Mrs. Clinton’s campaign announced that she would visit Hartford, the state capital, for a campaign event Monday morning.
The union endorsements came at the tail end of a week in which some of Connecticut’s leading Democrats finally weighed in on the presidential race. Until recently, many elected officials had remained undecided about their support for the two Democratic front-runners, Mrs. Clinton and Senator Barack Obama, because they had been supporting the presidential bid of Connecticut’s senior senator, Christopher J.
