Illinois: Unions Object to Money-Saving Move

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Capital city leaders and a key labor union are criticizing Governor Rod Blagojevich's plan to move 140 Department of Transportation jobs to southern Illinois.

Blagojevich wants to move I-DOT's Division of Traffic Safety from Springfield to Harrisburg. He claims the cheaper prices there would save the state $12.8 million over the next decade.

The governor also said today in announcing the move in Harrisburg that it would pump $15 million into a struggling economy in southern Illinois.... click to continue.
